Why “awbMaven”: it’s short for “a would be Maven”, Maven being a Yiddish word meaning a trusted expert in a particular field, who seeks to pass knowledge on to others and one who understands, based on an accumulation of knowledge. I aspire to be a Maven. I learnt the word while researching the Palestinian/Israeli crisis.
Why the blog: I am in control of the thoughts published and it’s permanence. Rather than being a slave to moderators’ whims, or indeed a slave to Twitter’s 140 character limit, I want somewhere where I can jot down my thoughts and perhaps also converse with others.
